Enjoyment of Frame Running in Children with Physical Disabilities
Monday March 10, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am PDT
Frame Running offers children with physical disabilities the opportunity to move with greater ease leading to increased active participation in physical activities at school, during recess, PE, after school adapted sports, and recreational activities with their family. Children and youth with physical disabilities who use assistive devices for mobility expend more energy during gait than typical developing peers. This leads to greater fatigue with less movement, and less overall physical activity. It is critical to identify assistive mobility devices that lessen the burden of energy demands with mobility, provide enjoyment and increase the capacity for greater active participation in physical activity with peers.

How to Create an Elite Mindset and Utilize the 10 Pillars of Mental Performance
Monday March 10, 2025 1:30pm - 2:20pm PDT
How to Create an Elite Mind Set and Utilize the 10 Pillars of Mental Performance. Creating an Elite Mind Set in Mental Performance for Life: Many of us as professionals are left with the nagging feeling that something’s missing. More often than we like to admit, we still struggle when it matters most fizzles out, and disappear after a few months, failing to reach our goals, and failing to realize our full potential. The BIGGEST PROBLEM is that most don’t know how to help students and those they work with develop the mental skill set to consistently be at their best, reach their goals, and achieve long-term success. How do we build Body and mind in Physical Education, Health, and Coaching? Questioning? How can I be motivated more consistently, and develop the routines and habits they need to be at their best? How can I stay focused and calm under pressure when time is on the line, and make better decisions, even when it’s hard? How can I stay positive and consistent when not seeing the results we want or performing at the level they expect? How can I refocus and get back on track when we “mess up” … without letting one “failure” spiral into more struggles? How do we help students and individuals be their best when it matters most? How do I help them to reach their goals and have long-term success? Understanding more about the mental performance of individuals, and how to help them achieve an elite mindset will help answer some of those questions and find level ground. Learning how to develop and create the Elite Mindset and how to implement that mindset in our everyday teaching and personal lives will help us be more productive in our own lives, as well helping others. This course will help you understand the 10 Pillars of Mental Performance and Creating an Elite Mind Set for Life.

Utilizing Health Class as Eating Disorder Prevention: How to Talk About Hard Nutrition Topics
Monday March 10, 2025 1:30pm - 2:20pm PDT
125
This presentation will discuss the pivotal role of health teachers and classes in the development of students’ relationships with food and their bodies. One thing we often hear as eating disorder professionals is that it’s hard to know how to talk about nutrition due to the fear of causing harm. Our goal for this presentation is to provide information to teachers and leaders so they feel confident in approaching these topics with students. This will include why and how eating disorders can develop in adolescence, what content and verbiage is helpful vs potentially harmful when talking about nutrition and body-image, and how teachers can be part of the first-line defense for eating disorder prevention in Utah.

Groove and Glow
Monday March 10, 2025 1:30pm - 2:20pm PDT
GROOVE is a dance, wellness, and fitness modality that feels a bit like a structured dance party. It celebrates the joy of moving, encourages unique movement choices, honors individual needs, and brings groups together through playful dance interactions. It is an excellent inroad for non-dancers as facilitators insist you “can’t get it wrong,” while also being a dance-lover’s dream as they get to play with the simple steps in their own way. This highly accessible dance form is new to the Utah scene, with Melanie as the only certified GROOVE facilitator in the tri-state area of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.

The idea that prestige is what people want most from a job is outdated. The priority has become what they need, which is a positive work culture where they feel seen, appreciated, and trusted. How do we become the kind of educator that can foster this kind of authenticity? Targeting specific skills that foster connection. Creating trust by modeling how to be a genuine team player. Understanding what matters most to our students and colleagues. The result? We expect innovative ideas and top performance to be at an all-time high as our people thrive in a workplace where they know they belong.

Wholesome Gratitude: The Healing Power That Transformed My Health
Monday March 10, 2025 2:30pm - 3:20pm PDT

In 2003, at nearly 300 pounds, I was extremely overwhelmed both at home and at work facing severe metabolic health issues. I had tried many ways to fix these issues - some worked but only temporarily. It wasn't until I discovered the REAL issue that I could finally take more permanent life changing steps.....ENTITLEMENT was the enemy. My life was fueled by fear UNTIL I learned to how to strategically practice GRATITUDE daily. I was finally able to get my life in order: I was able to manage my stress, time, and energy better. I was able to improve crucial personal and professional relationships. My ability and capacity to create and innovate grew exponentially. I experienced greater health mentally, emotionally, and physically as I easily lost 80 pounds of anger, sadness, and other fear-based thoughts and feelings.
